Cowboys Nose Dive in Home Opener

Film doesn’t lie. America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys were embarrassed at home. Perhaps the writing was on the wall. In the off season we all noted that the Cowboys declined to resign La’el Collins and Cedrick Wilson. The Cowboys traded veteran receiver Amari Cooper. They made no moves with the backfield, and they failed to restock the offensive line. Then, during the pre-season they lost Tyron Smith to a catastrophic injury. The Cowboys started the season with only two parameter players that Dak Prescott had familiarity with; CeeDee Lamb and Dalton Schultz. Lamb led the team last year in receptions and yards.

Playoff Preview: The Dallas Cowboys Perspective

The Dallas Cowboys had already clinched the NFC East division crown a couple weeks ago thanks to a favorable result from an AFC West showdown (of all matchups) due to an obscure “strength of opponent” tiebreaker. The Eagles were already in the tournament as well and opted to rest some of their starters to be ready for whoever their opponent would be in the Wildcard round. The Cowboys dominated the matchup from start to finish, winning 51-26 while getting whatever they wanted. Dak Prescott was 21/27 with nearly 300 yards and 5 touchdowns while the running game blasted off to the tune of 171 yards. It was total domination. There wasn’t much to play for on either side except for a potential Minshew Magic renaissance, but that never materialized. As a result, the regular season finale became a bit of a snoozefest as both teams already had their eyes on the playoffs, as do we here at JJ Sportsfan. Here is the playoff preview from the Dallas Cowboys perspective.

Cowboys First Loss in 2022

The Cowboys could win it all this year or get knocked out at home in the first round of the playoffs. I wouldn’t be surprised either way. That is the kind of blood pumping, head scratching, frustrating, exhilarating, exhausting, up and down season that they are having. After their opening night loss to the Bucs, the Cowboys were dominant, winning 6 in a row. I thought their season would be terminating in Inglewood California’s SoFi Stadium on February 13th for sure. I was in the process of making travel plans before the Omicron variant and the meat of the AFC West part of the schedule hit.
