College Football Rollup Week 13

Determined Harbaugh

Wow, what a week. We had a few upsets. We had a few almost upsets. But mainly…MICHIGAN WON!!!! We have all been waiting for this to happen. Michigan taking down Ohio State is the highlight of the football weekend. It’s the highlight because guys like Paul Finebaum said Jim Harbaugh would never do it. It’s a highlight because it’s been 10 years since Michigan beat Ohio State. Thanks for the fuel, Paul. You lit a fire under Jim’s ass and he blew it all over Ohio State. I am kidding, I am kidding. Jim Harbaugh doesn’t care what anyone thinks or says because he knows what it takes to win. Jim does Jim. He made some much-needed changes. He also humbled himself and took a pay cut because he knew he was not fulfilling promises. It takes a big man to do that. It takes an even bigger organization to trust him enough to keep him around to finish the job. It was not just the win that matters. It’s how the win happened. Michigan punched Ohio State in the mouth for four quarters on offense, defense and special teams. 297 yards rushing and six rushing touchdowns. The defense sacked CJ Stroud 4 times. They also held the Buckeyes to 60 yards rushing. It was an epic performance. Michigan showed the whole college football world that PHYSICAL football is still alive. They didn’t spread it out and do the Big 12 dink and dunk. No. They lined up and smashed into the talented Ohio State defense and paved a road to the Big 10 Championship and possibly the college football playoff.

This week has also started off with a bang. The Coaching Carousel has begun. Lincoln Riley has jumped ship and left Oklahoma for the glitz and glam of Los Angeles. Who can blame him? White Sandy Beaches, balmy weather, and some of the very best recruits in the nation are all good reasons to leave. USC backed up the Brinks truck to lure him away from one of the historically best programs in the nation. Brian Kelly is on his way to LSU. His 12 years at Notre Dame make him the winningest coach in school history. Remember, even the great Lou Holtz left the Irish. Kelly might just be the next guy to bring LSU another national championship. The SEC West just became that much tougher. There are more hires to make. More vacancies to fill. Those jobs will fill fast as the early recruiting season is coming up fast.

Now…for the College Football Rollup.

Auburn almost kicked Alabama out of the College Football Playoff in the Iron Bowl. What a disappointment!

Bedlam was….well…BEDLAM!!! Somehow the higher ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys were the underdogs. Didn’t matter. While the Sooners held the lead much of the game, they failed to hold off the 13-point Cowboy surge in the 4th quarter. It might not have mattered if the Sooners would have just scored a touchdown in the 4th.

Wisconsin loses out on a chance for another Big 10 title. Golden Gophers play the spoiler.

LSU sends Ed Orgeron out in style by upsetting the Texas A&M Aggies. Winning on a high note….and hiring Brian Kelly. Not a bad weekend.

BYU embarrasses USC in a close win. Those days are soon to be over with Lincoln Riley coming to town.
